Hampton Roads Public Transit and Human Services Transportation Plan

About Us

The Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads (Hampton Roads Transit) announces the availability of the Final Public Transit – Human Services Coordinated Plan. Prepared in accordance with federal surface transportation law (SAFETEA-LU, Public Law 109-59) and applicable regulations, the Coordinated Plan was developed in partnership with representatives of Williamsburg Area Transport (WAT) and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC). More than 50 public agencies, private non-profit community groups, and private transportation providers throughout the region participated in the development of the Coordinated Plan.

Federal transportation law makes a small amount of funds available for capital and operating projects to assist the mobility needs of seniors, persons with disabilities, and low-income individuals. Projects selected for this funding must be derived from the Coordinated Plan. The Coordinated Plan includes a proposed application process to be used by agencies seeking projects. The Plan was approved by the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads at their regular meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2008.

The Hampton Roads Public Transit and Human Services Transportation Plan is a partnership of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads (Hampton Roads Transit or HRT), and Williamsburg Area Transport (WAT).
